Home delivered diet meals taste much better than in the past. From the Nutrisystem days of old, new programs such as BistroMD and Diet-to-Go have cropped up which deliver high-nutrition, low-calorie diets straight to your door each week. The question is, how good does the food taste for BistroMD and Diettogo? I tried both over the past 6 six months, and overall I think they are both really good. There are some differences between the two, so here are some details on what I ate:
Both the BistroMD and Diet-to-Go meal plans are frozen, so won't taste as good as freshly-prepared food - but no worse than the other premium frozen foods you pick up at the supermarket. In comparison to those, both BistroMD and Diet-to-Go taste much better than supermarket frozen meals such as Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers.

Cranberry stuffed Chicken with Roasted Vegetables in a Cranberry Chutney Sauce. First off, the roasted corn and veggie side on this dish is amazing - crispy sweet corn, perfectly salted, yum! The chicken was tender and steamy hot, and the stuffing was remarkably fresh, mixed with cornbread and cranberries, and had a meaty and nicely garlicky taste to it. There was a garnish of onions and peppers which added to the aroma and flavor - I really liked this dish.
I had an unusual dinner of Pork Loin with Papaya Mango Sauce. You get a large serving of pork loin with this dish, and it was very moist and tender. The papaya sauce was a mix of slightly sweet and savory, which mixed nicely with the pork. The pork loin was a little crisp on the outside and pretty juicy on the inside, and mixed with the sauce it was surprisingly tasty. The green beans, baby carrots, and corn that came with this dish were excellent too. See more menu options from BistroMD.
Beef Sirloin in Peppercorn Sauce: Super yummy! The beef was tender and tasty, the peppercorn sauce was spicy and a nice gravy texture. Cutting through the beef I was surprised at its tenderness and dragging it through the gravy you get a lot of great flavor with it. The peas were very good and were spiced with a slight saltiness and onion flavor.
Chicken Cordon Bleu: This was my third favorite dinner of all the ones delivered to me from BistroMD. The chicken warmed up nicely and the meat was juicy inside. The filling inside the chicken was creamy and the ham inside was salty and rich too. When you cut into the chicken the filling literally spilled out and was very yummy. The green beans were crispy and salted perfectly, and the rice was very flavorful.
Seasoned pork chop and pasta: BistroMD's pork chops were delicious. There was a breading on the outside that combined with their gravy sauce to become a moist mixture of meaty flavor. The side pasta was excellent as well - the noodles was well done and the mildly creamy sauce was flavored nicely.
Here's was a week's worth of BistroMD looks like:

Roasted turkey dinner with green beans: After popping the turkey dinner in the microwave and opening up the package, I was treated to a surprisingly yummy dinner! The turkey was crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside, with the right amount of saltiness. The green beans had a garlic flavor and were nicely crisp. I really liked this one - it didn't even taste like diet food in my opinion.
DInner: Shrimp fettucini with broccoli: Diet-to-Go's shrimp fettucini was excellent. Noodles were chewy and flavorful, and not too oily. The shrimp was actually very plump and meaty, and the cream sauce was, well creamy and delicious! I wished I could have seconds after I was finished - but hey its a diet plan right? Apple stuffed pancakes, with veggie sausage and maple syrup: This breakfast dish had two big fluffy pancakes wrapped around marinated and cooked apples. Cutting through the pancakes with my fork, I saw the hot apple sauce dribble out and when I bit in, I was treated to an amazingly yummy pancake treat, almost like a dessert. The veggie patty really tasted like sausage, I don't know how they do that, but it was pretty darn good. The maple syrup was thick and sweet like maple syrup usually is. Again, didn't think this tasted like diet food.
Mexican pizza with tomato rice and salsa: The Mexican pizza was a pleasant surprise, I'm usually not a fan of this dish, but this was fresh and tasty. The flour tortilla was thick and fluffy and the cheese warmed up nice and soft with crispy edges. The sauce was very flavorful, lots of tomato and spices. Biting into this pizza was surprisingly good - its was a crispy yet fluffy crust and lots of tomatoes, cheese, beans and vegetable flavors coming through at once.
